Dangard Ace Page
|
I won this guy off ebay in late February 2012. I had a couple Robot Japan friends inform me of its listing pretty quickly. Well, I gotta say, I got extremely lucky for the price, when some of these more rare jumbos come up and tend to be pricey, I am not too willing to let go of my money for one without some hard decision making first.
And I had just won a Combattler a couple weeks earlier, so wasn't really in a savings position to drop a lot. The seller had a Buy It Now price of $900 and spending that much just wasn't in my budget. "WillOhio" edged me to give them a Best Offer of $500-$600, so I gave an offer of $600. Personally, since they have up to 48 hour to accept, decline, or just ignore the offer, I figured someone else would most likely end up buying this Dangard for the asking price. I was a little shocked to get an e-mail in the next hour for acceptance of the offer. So, about a week and a half later, it was in my possession. Yeah, I had a couple comments about how lucky I was to get it, for about 1/2 the price some other Dangard had been selling recently on Yahoo Japan. I would hate to see what a mint Dangard Ace would sell at this current time. |

Left foot fix
I gave the broken foot my first attention. As the foot is a separate piece and does have a slight wiggle, I am assuming someone may had tried to see if it would come off and that ended up with the broken off piece and then attempts to glue it back on. Maybe some other hard playing caused it, hard to say.
After taking the screw out of bottom of the foot and cutting away some of the CA glue to coax the leg insert out of the foot. While CA glue does stick to polyethylene, it is a mild surface bond only and could cut and scrape it away. I purchased some Loctite plastic glue which is made for bond polyethylene plastic as well as some other types of plastic. I also got some 2 part plastic epoxy which I used on the inside of the leg to provide extra insurance that the properly glued back on insert should be plenty good to go. |
